      OTHER QUESTIONS

      I'VE NEVER EMBROIDERED BEFORE!

      How do I start?
Right here! Since 2001, the mission of Sublime Stitching is to offer instructions that make sense, patterns that push the boundaries of embroidery, encouragement for newbies, inspiration for continuing stitchers and basically no excuses to not give embroidery a try.

      Is embroidery hard to do?

Nope. It's easy and inexpensive (and relaxing and rewarding and fun). With iron-on transfers, there are no charts to follow or rows to count. You simply follow the lines in stitches.

What's the best first project for me or a friend?
Get an Ultimate Embroidery Kit with a tea towel. It has everything needed to start stitching (and continue stitching)! All kits are lovingly assembled for you by us. These are the original all-in-one supply kits that come with everything needed to begin your new life as a hand-embroiderer. These aren't 'just-to-get started' kits with cheap supplies. I created this all-in-one kit ten years ago, and thousands have learned to stitch with it.

What if I just get patterns and no kit?

Every iron-on pattern includes a basic how-to for getting started in embroidery and one stitch lesson. You can always visit the How-To section or get Jenny's Sublime Stitching Books for more in-depth instructions on embroidery.

      PRODUCT INFO

Does the ink from the iron-on patterns wash out?
No. The ink on the transfer patterns does not wash out. Please be sure to read the instructions before using them! We don’t want you to be disappointed with the results. We know you’re excited to start stitching, but test on scrap fabric first!

UPDATE: Some stitchers have reported to us success in washing out the transfer lines by using a Tide To-Go stain pen, or by spraying with Zout, letting it sit a while, and then using Oxyclean. (We haven't tested this ourselves, but several customers have reported getting the lines out completely with these methods.)

Will the blue ink on the printed textiles wash out?
Yes. Do not pre-wash them, or the design will disappear! The blue ink on the printed textiles washes out, so be sure to stitch up the design before you launder it.

Can I iron the printed textiles before I stitch them?

Yes, but make sure your steam setting is OFF. It is fine to iron any of the printed textiles with a hot, dry iron before you embroider them. Just be aware that heat may set the blue pattern and make it more resistant to washing out.

Are these patterns only for embroidery?
Nope! These patterns will also transfer to wood, heavy paper, leather, canvas (to be used as a template for painting or wood burning), or glue 'n glittering...whatever you can think of! (We're just partial to embroidery around here.)

How do you use the iron-on patterns?
(Complete instructions come with the patterns.) Sublime Stitching transfers are multi-imprinting iron-on patterns that leave an outline on fabric for you to stitch. You can expect approximately 3-8 imprints from each design depending on how hot your iron is and how long and hard you press with the iron. The patterns are designed to inspire different combinations so you can mix and match to make your own unique compositions!

      Do you have color guides?
Yes! There are two versions of color guides in every PDF version of the patterns.

Why don't the color guides also come in the iron-on transfer patterns?
It would be too expensive for us to include two full-color sheets with the iron-on transfers. The price of the patterns would have to be raised, and who wants that?

Do the patterns explain where and what stitches to use on the design?

Embroidery patterns are outlines that you follow in stitches -the choice is yours for which stitch you prefer to use! If you're a beginner, there are three basic outlining stitches suggested: split stitch, back stitch and stem stitch. How to work these stitches, examples of what they look like, and when you might choose to use them can be found in the How-To section. These same diagrams are also included in every PDF of patterns!

To learn even more stitches, how to work them, and the type of effects they achieve check out Embroidered Effects! There are so many possibilities!

      What is a PDF?

This is a multi-page file of the patterns that is emailed to you immediately upon purchase that you print out on your computer at home. With a transfer pen or carbon transfer paper, you trace the designs by hand. Complete instructions for transferring the designs by hand come with every PDF.

Why don't the color guides also come in the iron-on transfer patterns?

It would be too expensive for us to include two full-color sheets with the iron-on transfers. The price of the patterns would have to be raised, and who wants that? So if you prefer transfers, but also want the color guides, get the PDF combo for a discount! With the PDF, you can also refer to them on your computer screen or tablet.

Which pattern format should I get?

Here is a full explanation of iron-on transfers vs. PDFs.

I purchased a PDF file and now I can't find it. Will you resend it to me?
Computer crash? Put it in the trash? Here's how to get your PDF back:

      1. All PDF files are named SublimeStitching_patternname.pdf so try a search on your computer first. No luck?

      2. If you kept your original email from us with the link to your PDF re-click on the link for download. It may not have expired yet.
Still can't turn up with that PDF that you purchased? No worries -we will gladly re-send your PDF to you with proof of purchase. Just contact us!

Do you have a pattern of...?

Looking for something you can't find? If there is something specific you are looking for, simply enter it in the search box! (Try it: enter "stapler" and see what happens!)

      ORDERING/ SHIPPING

Our full Terms of Sale can be found here.

How quickly will I get my order?
All orders ship M-F within 1-3 business days via USPS 1st Class or Priority Mail (depending on weight). We have a reputation for being superfast with shipping and we're proud of it! If there's a delay with your order there's usually a good reason and we'll try to let you know asap. We are a small operation, so your patience is always appreciated. We do our best to shape 'em up and ship 'em out!

Do you ship internationally? How long does it take?

Yes, Sublime Stitching ships worldwide! You should receive your order within two weeks. Sublime Stitching kits and patterns can also be found in numerous shops internationally, so be sure to check the retailer listings.

Can I place my order by mail?
Why, yes you can! Just go to Orders By Mail to find out how.

Can you ship to my place of work?
Sure! Just be sure to put c/o Your Workplace in the field for "Company" when you provide your address at checkout.

Can I add something to my existing order?
If you want to order more items, please do! Simply place a separate order via the website. We will love you for it. Unfortunately, we can't just add more items to an existing order upon request once its been placed.

Can you combine multiple orders into one shipment?

Unfortunately, we can't combine multiple orders that have been placed separately into one shipment. Why not? Requests to combine orders means filling orders out of line and slows up our shipping process (your order may or may not have already have shipped, we have to stop shipping to look up in our mail log to determine if it has...if it hasn't, it may have already been packed, we'd have to tear it open, re-pack it with the new stuff, waste the packing materials if a larger box or envelope is needed...) and, it doesn't change the shipping charges anyway. We know it sounds like it saves everyone time and money, but in fact it does just the opposite. It's not because we're mean. It's because we want to get everyone's orders out as fast as possible!

Will you rush my order? I'm having a craft emergency! Pleeeeease?
Shipments are processed in the order in which they are received. We ship as fast as humanly possible, but cannot rush or overnight orders upon request. If we could make it instantly appear in front of you (hey -PDFs do), we would!

      How are online payments processed?
Orders placed on this website are managed by PayPal.com. Paying online with Sublime Stitching is secure and encrypted. Your financial information is not stored by us.

My order seems lost or delayed. What's up with that?
Contact us to inquire about your order, and be sure to include your order confirmation or order # in your email to us. While you're waiting to hear back from us, read about delayed or lost shipments here.

How can I find out when you're going to have a sale?
Sales pop up, and you never know when! Keep your eye on the Sale section, follow Jenny on Twitter (she sometimes gives out voucher codes that are good for a day), like the Facebook page (same thing - special deals might pop up) and be sure to get the Newsletter! That's the number one way to find out that a sale is ON!

Wah! I just missed the sale! Will you extend the discount to me on the order I placed before / after the sale?
This is the heartbreak of sales. Please know how much we appreciate (and need) every dollar you paid in full price. Sale prices are valid only during the period they are offered.

I entered a voucher code but it didn't work.I checked out anyway and paid full price. Will you refund the difference to me?
Unfortunately, we cannot do this. To apply a discount to your order total with a voucher code, it must be applied at the time of purchase. Your cart will indicate before payment is completed if the discount will apply or not. You can only receive the discount at the time of purchase, and we cannot issue refunds or credits for any voucher codes not entered at the time of checkout.

      OTHER QUESTIONS

Will you help me with my project?
Unfortunately, we cannot answer individual emails with tips on embroidery projects. Post your question to the Sublime Stitching Facebook page! (Jenny can't resist replying.)

How do I get a pattern onto dark fabric?
Carbon Transfer Paper includes the ever hard-to-find white. Or, use T-Shirt Stabilizer by applying it topside to your fabric and then transferring the pattern onto the stabilizer. (I've included instructions for doing this inside each pack.)

How do I make my own patterns?
One of the easiest ways is with Carbon Transfer Paper or a Transfer Pen found in the Tools section.

How do I make iron-on patterns like the ones I purchased from you?

Sublime Stitching iron-on transfers are created with a printing process that can’t be duplicated at home. However, iron-on transfer pens will create a pattern that imprints multiple times just like the patterns! Trace once, and stamp again and again.

      Do you make custom patterns?

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to offer any custom manufacturing or custom designs.

Will you embroider something for me?

We do not offer custom embroidery or finishing services.

Can I send in my own work for consideration?
We respectfully ask that you do not send us unsolicited artwork or designs for consideration of becoming Sublime Stitching patterns. If you have an online portfolio you are welcome to send links. But, we can't promise that your work will become Sublime Stitching embroidery patterns. Our list of artists already-in-production is long. But we love to discover undiscovered talents!
