Wanted: Sublime Stitchers!

Jenny Hart Hand Embroidery
• OPEN CALL FOR SAMPLE STITCHERS •
Do you need an excuse to embroider more? Need a little extra money? Would you like to be considered when we need a sample stitched up?

Though I wish I could embroider all day long, le sigh...that is just not possible. This is the first time we are holding an open call for embroiderers! Want to audition? Here's what you need to know:

Sublime Stitching will be releasing more patterns, kits and projects with increased frequency (yes, exciting!) and we'll need stitched examples to accompany each project release!

You don't have to be an expert stitcher. You may be not be able to execute a French Knot (here, read this) but you can slay a hoop with your perfect back stitches. Our goal has always been to present embroidery as something anyone can do, with examples that are clear, simple and lovely to look at. Reliability, consistency and neatness is what we seek most.

Wondering if you'll be a good fit? Consider this:

TIME - If you are assigned a project, would you have time to stitch for 4-10 hours that week?

LOCATION - Due to deadlines, customs, taxes and shipping costs, all Sublime Stitchers must be located in the United States.

FINANCIAL - Sublime Stitchers will be paid on a piece-by-piece basis and will be paid for the completed work on a contract basis. (With extra perks!)

STITCHING SKILL - We can use stitchers of different skill levels. Think about where your skills fit within our range:

Solid Amateur - Neat, consistent stitching in at least one basic outlining stitch (back, stem or split). Mostly outline stitching, with some filling. Ability to transfer pattern to fabric from a PDF.

Advanced - Previous skill set, but can work beyond basic stitches: French knots, chain stitch, satin stitch maybe a little cretan, maybe some fly stitch, and some filling work.

Master - The two prior skill sets plus the ability to work in complex ways like filling animal hair. Versatile, and able to work in multiple styles of embroidery.

COMMITMENT- Would you be able to commit to deadlines to return the stitched piece?

HOW DO I BEGIN?

We have an online questionnaire for you to complete! It's linked at the bottom of this page. But please read the rest...

WHEN DOES THE STITCHING START?

Before you begin stitching samples for Sublime Stitching, we will ask you to complete a federal tax W-9 form and the Employee Elegibility Verification I-9. If at the end of the year you have been paid more than $600 by Sublime Stitching, we will issue you a 1099.

If we choose you for a sample assignment, we will contact you first to ask if you can accept the assignment. We'll ask you to estimate the hours it will take to complete the project, and provide us with a deadline that works best for you.

If we agree on the scope, deadline, and fee, we will send you everything needed to complete the project and send it back to us!

IS THIS A PART-TIME JOB? FULL-TIME?

Well, this isn't going to support you and your family. Or even you and your cat. It probably wouldn't even support your cat. We wish Sublime Stitching was an enterprise large enough to hire a room full of Sublime Stitchers, drinking tea in comfy armchairs with dogs at their feet whilst listening to the Mozart's The Magic Flute. We are just not that company (yet)! Maybe you'll help us get there!

ARE THERE OTHER COOL PERKS OR BENEFITS?

Yep!

  • 25% off at Sublime Stitching for active sample stitchers
  • Waived Licensing Agreement fee
  • Credited on the website, Instagram, etc. as the stitcher that delivered! Can't promise there will always be a credit every time your sample is shown, but we will do our best.
  • Our sincere gratitude!

READY TO APPLY? COOL!
