After the two other examples of using the isolated chain stitch for blood drops (here and here) I thought I'd give you a detailed close-up from my embroidered work "St. John the Baptist" in case you don't keep an eye on Embroidery As Art or my Flickr set of embroidered works. If you look closely at the "blood drops" that hang all along the edge of the platter, I used metallic thread only for the part that tacks down the isolated chain stitch. Huh. I uh, really don't remember how I did that. Any ideas? And while your nose is pressed up against the screen, how many different stitch types can you count?
