Karen Nicol (her book Embellished: New Vintage is one of my favorites) has an exhibition opening this Thursday, November 7th at Rebecca Hossack in London. The series is called Singerie (French for "Monkey Business") and I would love to see her couture crossover embroidery work in person. I so admire that she maintains a highly productive embroidery studio that outputs the most imaginative, bespoke embroidery to couturiers. Even though the work is somewhat interpretive of a designer's ideas, it is clear she has a vision all her own (and that is why they go to her). If only I could hop on a plane and attend the opening!
