I found this embroidered pillow top at an estate sale in Pasadena more than ten years ago. I would venture to guess this was worked in the late 1910's or early 1920's. The design is almost entirely worked in satin stitch (some stem stitching, and long-and-short stitch) with silk threads. Totally beautiful. Utterly maudlin and Victorian. This would look striking if framed or completed as a pillow. Buy it before I decide to put it away again!
