Sublime Silks: an Embroidery Afternoon and Evening
with Jenny Hart and Special Guests from Paris:
Rebecca Devaney of Textile Tours
and Nathalie Bothorel, Director of Au Ver à Soie
Beacon Grand Hotel, Union Square, San Francisco
What a unique opportunity! I am thrilled to introduce you to Rebecca Devaney and Nathalie Bothorel for their first-ever workshop appearances in the states! Yes, we all would love to go to Paris, but for this event, I'm bringing a little bit of Paris to you:
Special Guests:
Nathalie Bothorel is the Director (and great-great-granddaughter of the founder) of Au Ver à Soie. An historical French manufacturer, their threads are used by prestigious couture houses like Dior, Chanel, and Hermès. Remarkably, these same high-quality silk threads are available to needleworkers for their own creations! It's an extraordinary opportunity for needleworkers to not only use the same threads favored by top designers but also to learn directly from Nathalie about what makes them so exceptional.
Rebecca Devaney is a distinguished textile artist and researcher, celebrated for her expertise in French couture embroidery. A graduate of École Lesage in Paris, she has collaborated with top fashion houses like Chanel, Dior, and Louis Vuitton. Her passion for embroidery extends to global research, having particularly focused on Mexican textile traditions. Rebecca also founded Textile Tours of Paris (London and more!), offering immersive experiences into the rich history of textiles, making her a respected figure in academic and artistic circles.
Jenny Hart will be your hostess and teacher for this entire event:
Workshop Venue: The Beacon Grand Hotel / The Salon
Cocktail Mixer: Starlite Lounge
Private Dinner and Popup Shop: Sears Fine Food
Registration includes a private, three-hour workshop with a Sublime Stitching embroidery project designed to highlight these special threads, talks from our visiting guests, Q/A with all of us, a cocktail mixer (or a break if you need it!) followed by a private popup shop of Sublime Stitching with Au Ver à Soie threads, and sit-down dinner (with wine).
How's that sound? For those of you enjoying a week of quilt conventions I think this sounds like a nice way to wind down and cap it all off. For me, it sounds like the embroidery event I'd want to attend. Hors d'oeuvres on hand, a new embroidery project, experts available to answer my questions, a calm lovely environment...
Absolute beginner? Why worry? You'll have veteran needleworkers on hand to guide you and teach you. That's our job!
Each attendee will receive a custom suite of Au Ver à Soie silk threads, exclusive embroidery supplies, and more! Gift bags? What? I don't know, don't look at me. Maybe. Nothing is needed, all supplies are provided, refreshments will be on hand, and yes, you can bring your own embroidery projects to share! Please do.
I will also bring some of my recently-displayed, large-scale works to share and discuss!
Also...
Attendees opting to stay at the hotel will receive a discounted rate. Room rates and additional hotel amenities are not included in registration costs. Further details will be made available after registration.
Please note that the popup and dinner is in a non-ADA accessible space (historic building). All prospective attendees are encouraged to visit the full terms of sale and registration prior to registering (then scroll down). This includes the non-refundable cancellation policy and additional information regarding accessibility at the event.
If you have any questions at all, don't hesitate to email me: info@sublimestitching.com
I'm extremely excited about this! More and more details to come!
